GERMAN TOOLS INSPECTION LTD provided non-destructive testing of a nonmagnetic drill collar. This process took place in several stages:

Preparation of the part for control: scratch brushing and cleaning.

 Visual inspection.

The penetrant test was used because it is the most effective in control for nonferromagnetic metals.

Applying penetrant fluid to the threaded pin.

Waiting for penetrating suspension within 5-10 min.

Washing off the fluid and after drying proceed to the next step.

Applying developer to the controlled part.

       Inspecting the drill collar.

Defects in the form of microcracks were detected both on the nipple and on the body of the nonmagnetic drill collar.

As a result of the work, it was concluded that this tool is NOT suitable for further operation.
