GERMAN TOOLS INSPECTION LTD provided non-destructive testing services of drilling tools, such as hydraulic roughnecks. This work was done with the following stages:

 Detailed preparing for the control: scratch brushing and cleaning.

 Providing visual inspection which is the main setting process before any method and this case was no exception.

 Using the magnetic particle method for detecting the defects because it was the most effective in this instance.

Specialists found subsurface microcracks with a total length of 23 mm. They were at the places which apt to damages and lading.                                                                           

After providing NDT, we concluded that the jaws of the hydraulic roughneck were not suitable for further operation. The detail must be replaced. Timely NDT made it possible to find shortcomings in time and warn the Customer in the future against emergencies.
